In my sewing tutoring classes, appropriate for both children and adults, I will teach you how to sew basic crafts and garments. We'll begin with a cushion cover or a curtain, and progress to skirts, dresses and bags. I'm located in Holywood, East Belfast, BT4, and I conduct sessions on my Bernina Bernette machine, charged on an hourly rate of £10/hr. Please call me on 07456094649 to set up an initial session.
Why?
Sewing changed my life and I want to share this gift with others. Sewing is one of the few homecraft hobbies that gives you the immense satisfaction of making visible progress with every project you create. It also gives you results that you can wear with pride, or that you can give as gifts.
How I learned
I sewed a stuffed bunny in 7th grade Home Ec, and I was hooked. Just kidding. I was around sewing all my life (every woman in my family sews) but I didn't own a sewing machine until I was all grown up and had kids of my own, and my sister gifted me a Brother. That was just four years ago. My sister (an amazing quilter) had the most beautiful fabric stash that I loved to admire. Once I had a machine in the house, I realized I could make beautiful clothes that I designed myself, and I could learn everything I needed to know from Youtube, books, and other sewing blogs -- or from desperately calling my sister for tips! I could also create things my kids would treasure, and make fun home decorations. All that for a lot less money than I'd spend buying these items? Then I was hooked.
